SPEED Announces January NASCAR Coverage
Charlotte – SPEED will open its 2009 NASCAR coverage with the first episode of NASCAR 39/10: Reviewing the 60th Season on Jan. 7. Stewart Sponsor Closing Down 112 Stores to Reduce Costs
Office Depot, sponsor of Tony Stewart’s #14 Chevrolet has announced that it is closing 112 underperforming stores over the next three months. The move will reduce their store count to 1,,163. An additional 14 stores will be closed as their leases expire. In another cost saving move the company will close 6 distribution centers as it streamlines its supply chain. Tony Stewart Enters the Rumble In Ft. Wayne Midget Racing Event
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) star Tony Stewart has entered the famous Munchkin for the two-day Rumble in Ft. Wayne event. The event will be held Friday, Dec. 26, and Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum Expo Center, located at 4000 Parnell Avenue, Ft. Wayne, Ind. The event features the Rumble Series Midgets, 600cc Winged Modified Midgets, go-karts, junior sprints and the Lucas Oil Quarter Midgets. Stewart, a two-time NSCS champion, won the midget feature on the final night of the 2007 event and has visited victory lane four times since 2005. Billy Wease of Noblesville, Ind., won the opening night. Stewart, who hails from Columbus, Ind., won his first Rumble in Ft. Ryan Newman Foundation Raises $155,000 for Animal Welfare
STATESVILLE, N.C. – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver Ryan Newman raised $155,000 for conservation and animal welfare efforts at the Ryan Newman Foundation’s Fourth Annual Charity Gala and Auction on December 12 and the Third Annual Charity Fishing Tournament on December 13 in Mooresville, NC. The gala, which was presented by Alltel Wireless, featured a concert by country music singers/songwriters Bridgette Tatum and Danny Myrick. The pair wrote the song “She’s Country,” which was performed by Jason Aldean on the 2008 Country Music Awards. The charity bass tournament was presented by Ranger Boats and facilitated by FLW Outdoors. Three hundred and nineteen fishermen competed for the grand prize which was Ryan Newman’s Z-20 Ranger Boat equipped with a 225 H.O.
