The competition director oversees all the race teams. In this case Zippy will also be building Danica Patrick’s part-time team. In very basic terms, since the actual job is different with every organization, he is the one the crew chiefs report to. He makes sure that the logistics are set up for the race weekend, getting the equipment and people to the tracks when they are supposed to be there, and making sure the crew chief has what he needs to do the job. Obviously he has to be good with people, have great organizational skills, and be a good communicator.

Obviously there is a lot more to it than this but that’s the basics.

Christmas came early – Thanks to Tony, Greg, Joe and J.D. Gibbs for getting this deal worked out. Looks like Tony put his Championship bouns to good use. This is a dream team come true – it’s gonna to be fun to watch. Have a lot of faith that Dannica will really get off to as good a start as possible now. Thanks to all involved.

Actually, it was three years not two, and Grubb is going to be crew chief for Denny Hamlin, not Kyle Busch. As far as how Tony would feel, I think he would be happy for Joe and Darian both.

Well here it is .Grubb took a new team to a championship in two years .I think he will end up as Kyle Busch crew chief.With all that bein said hows Tony gonna feel, when Gibbs racing wins the series this year and his old boss gets anoher trophy.

I just don’t understand how you let a man go that took you to the championship. Is Darian not in the organization at all? There must be some real strong things that no one knows about to have this happen. I’m sure Steve will be the outstanding crew chief he has always been and I wish he and Tony the best. It is just real bewildering.

Reading between the lines he’s a bit naffed off that he didn’t do better and that’s the diplomatic answer.

Hopefully he’ll have a better race than he thinks he’s going to have!
