Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 39 Haas Automation Chevrolet Impala, led the two-car Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) contingent in time trials at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by qualifying fifth for Sunday’s Brickyard 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Hoosier (Hoo-zar) – “A person born or living in Indiana, industrious, hospitable, down home folks who enjoy popcorn, Indiana summers, racecars and basketball.” Growing up in Indiana, it seems only natural that South Bend native Ryan Newman would be predisposed to following his athletic talents to either the racetrack or the basketball court.
