Stewart-Haas Racing Daytona 500 Time Trials Report

Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet Impala, led the two-car Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) contingent in time trials for the 53rd annual Daytona 500 by qualifying a strong seventh for the season-opening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Ryan Newman WIX Filters Racing Team Report: Budweiser Shootout – Daytona Newman earned his entry into the 33rd annual Budweiser Shootout, his ninth start in the non-points event, via his 2008 victory in the 50th Running of the Daytona 500. Newman is also eligible for the Shootout via his 2002 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year title. In eight starts in the Shootout, Newman has posted two top-five finishes. The nine-year Sprint Cup veteran finished fourth in 2003. His best finish came in 2005, when he scored a second-place effort.
