Newman Finishes Solid Eighth at Dover

Dover – Ryan Newman drove his No. 39 Haas Automation Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) to a solid eighth-place finish in Sunday’s AAA 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. It was Newman’s 10th top-10 finish of the season and his 11th in 18 career Sprint Cup starts at the 1-mile, concrete oval. “We had a decent day,” Newman said. “We didn’t have track position at the end to contend for the win, but we had a good car. The guys gave me really good pit stops all day and (Tony) Gibson (crew chief) made some good calls. It was a solid run for our Haas Automation Chevrolet.” … Read entire article »

Monster Mile Bites Stewart

Dover – It’s odd that in racing one can be found to be going too fast. Yet, that’s exactly what happened to Tony Stewart when he was tagged for excessive speed on pit road early in Sunday’s AAA 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. The lap-115 infraction dropped Stewart two laps off the pace, and it was a deficit the driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet could not overcome, as he finished 21st. … Read entire article »

Nothing Is Over Until Stewart Says It Is

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Last Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon – the first in the 10-race Chase for the Championship – left Tony Stewart with a gut-wrenching 24th-place finish after he led three times for 100 laps. With a 1.5-second lead over second-place Clint Bowyer, Stewart had victory in sight, but coming to take the white flag for the final lap, the fuel cell inside his No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet ran dry, handing the win to Bowyer. … Read entire article »

Monster Mile isn’t a scary place for Newman

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Ryan Newman’s favorite Dover (Del.) International Speedway story actually has little to do with the concrete mile oval that he has deemed one of his favorite racetracks – one where he has scored three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins and one that he will return to for Sunday’s AAA 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. In fact, the story he loves to tell when he talks about Dover happened in his own backyard in Statesville, N.C. Well, to be more specific, it happened in his shop. … Read entire article »
