Stewart-Haas Daytona Final Practice Report
Ryan Newman, No. 39 U.S. Army Impala SS and Tony Stewart, No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Impala SS were both forced to backup cars for the Daytona 500 following an accident during final practice on Saturday. With the No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet and the No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet both being involved in an on-track accident during today’s final practice session for the Daytona 500, both Stewart-Haas Racing teams have gone to a backup racecar for the season-opening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Tony Stewart is now driving Chassis No. 14-454, which is the car he drove to a third-place finish in last Saturday’s non-point Budweiser Shootout at Daytona. Goodyear Gets Back at Stewart
Tony Stewart didn’t have a lot of good to say about Goodyear last year. It looks like he’ll have even less good to say this year after tire problems destroyed both Stewart-Haas cars in todays final practice for the Daytona 500. About 20 minutes into the practice Ryan Newman was going through 1 and 2 with Tony close behind. As has happened so many times in the past, Newman’s right rear tire blew out. As he spun out, he collected his teammate.
