Newman Finishes Strong with 7th-Place Result in Season Finale

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Ryan Newman ended the 2010 NASCAR season with a seventh-place finish in Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was the second straight top-10 result for Newman, who finished second last week in Phoenix. It was also his 14th top-10 of the season, eight of which came in the last 13 races. “We’ve had a lot better finishes at the end of this season than we did at the end of last season,” said Newman. “We have something to build on for next year and that’s a big positive. Tony Stewart had an impressive drive in Sunday’s season-ending Ford 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The pilot of the No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet Impala for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) rallied from his 31st-place starting spot to finish a solid eighth. New Dad Newman Qualifies 23rd in Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – It was a whirlwind 24 plus hours for Ryan Newman, who became a first-time father Thursday when his wife Krissie gave birth to a baby girl — Brooklyn Sage at 4:07 p.m. ET. Newman was present for the delivery and even fed his newborn daughter later in the evening. He said it was a “really, really cool experience and mother and daughter are doing fine.” After spending a good part of the night at the hospital with his expanded family, Newman left North Carolina early Friday morning and arrived at Homestead-Miami Speedway in time to take part in the U.S. Army Education Program. Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet Impala, led the two-car Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) contingent in time trials at Homestead-Miami Speedway by qualifying 23rd for Sunday’s season-ending Ford 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
