Newman and U.S. Army Racing To Create Picture Perfect Veterans Day

FORT KNOX, Ky. – The U.S. Army and Stewart-Haas Racing announced today a special paint scheme for Ryan Newman’s No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet which gives veterans the opportunity to put their faces on the Soldiers’ car running in the Kobalt Tools 500 Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway on Nov. 14.

Starting today, veterans, along with their families, friends and loved ones, can go online and submit photos of the men and women who have embraced the call of duty and helped build and protect our country at www.goarmy.com/yourphotohere.

All veterans are eligible for inclusion among the photos in the special paint scheme. Images of Soldiers will be collected through Sept. 24. Those selected will be featured on the hood, trunk, side panels and bumpers when Newman gets behind the wheel of the No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet in Phoenix.

Stewart Wins and Loses at Phoenix

Tony Stewart won Saturday night at Phoenix International Raceway, but not in the traditional way that most view the driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet. In fact, Stewart the driver finished 23rd in the Subway Fresh Fit 600k NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the 1-mile oval. Stewart the owner, however, got to stop in victory lane to congratulate his Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) teammate Ryan Newman on his first win as a member of SHR.

“As a driver, I hate the way I ran tonight. But as an owner, I’m very happy for Ryan, Tony Gibson (crew chief) and everyone at Stewart-Haas Racing for getting that ‘39’ car into victory lane,” said Stewart, who co-owns SHR with Haas Automation, the largest CNC machine tool

Newman Claims Phoenix Victory Thanks to Bold Pit Call

Last fall, Ryan Newman unveiled his No. 39 Tornados Chevrolet in victory lane at Phoenix International Raceway. On Saturday night, Newman brought his partnership with the maker of bold, rolled snacks full circle as he returned the No. 39 Tornados Chevrolet to Phoenix’s victory lane, this time in official fashion by celebrating a thrilling win in the Subway Fresh Fit 600k.

Newman took the lead from four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon on the final restart of the race and held on to the top spot for the final two laps around the 1-mile oval to score his first win driving for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR). And while it was Newman’s 14th career Sprint Cup victory, it was his first since winning the 2008 Daytona 500, a span of 77 races.
