Ryan Newman Friday All-Star Race Media Visit

RYAN NEWMAN met with members of the media at Charlotte Motor Speedway and discussed his win in the All-Star race, continuing safety in the sport, the physical demands of running 600 miles and much more. Full transcript. TALK ABOUT THE ALL-STAR RACE. “I guess just use generic words, it’s a cool event because we’re home, it’s a race all for pride, all for money and it’s a nice short race. I’ve always said it was the way we grew up and were brought up racing. Short stints, short runs, short races, all for the money and the glory. I really look forward to the opportunity. Two years ago we had a car that should have won the race and we got … Read entire article »

Bad Boy Newman Gunning for A Million Bucks

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – For Ryan Newman, perhaps there’s no better time than this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, where the South Bend, Ind., native should embrace his new image as one of NASCAR’s “bad boys.” After being embroiled in turmoil on and off the racetrack for a couple of weeks, Newman joked with the media gathered at Dover (Del.) International Speedway this past weekend that he was “kind of new to the bad boy market” and was learning the rules of being a “bad boy” as he went. But, all joking aside, it just may take a “bad boy” to win this weekend’s Sprint All-Star Race. On Saturday night, there are no points on the line, which … Read entire article »

A Lingering “What If” for Newman as he Finishes 11th in All-Star Race

For Ryan Newman and the No. 39 Tornados team of Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway could be succinctly summed up as a story of “what-ifs.” Newman, who had battled the handling of his racecar during the first 90 laps of the 100-lap event, appeared to have a shot at his second All-Star victory with just a handful of laps remaining. However, it was not meant to be for Newman, who won the non-points race during his rookie season in 2002. … Read entire article »

Stewart Rallies to Finish Fifth in All-Star Race

Tony Stewart rallied from 11th-place in the last 10 laps of Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway to finish a solid fifth. It was his fourth consecutive-top five finish in the non-points event and his eighth top-10 result in 12 career All-Star Races. “I’ve never been really that excited about top-10 finishes, but to run ninth last week at Dover and then to run fifth tonight after a crash, I’m pretty happy with that,” said Stewart, who won last year’s All-Star Race – his first as a driver/owner with Stewart-Haas Racing. “We learned some things that we hope to use next weekend. It still wasn’t perfect at the end, but we made ground on it and it finally gave us a little stability. I think we’re … Read entire article »
