Tony Stewart Enters the Rumble In Ft. Wayne Midget Racing Event
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) star Tony Stewart has entered the famous Munchkin for the two-day Rumble in Ft. Wayne event. The event will be held Friday, Dec. 26, and Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum Expo Center, located at 4000 Parnell Avenue, Ft. Wayne, Ind. The event features the Rumble Series Midgets, 600cc Winged Modified Midgets, go-karts, junior sprints and the Lucas Oil Quarter Midgets.
Stewart, a two-time NSCS champion, won the midget feature on the final night of the 2007 event and has visited victory lane four times since 2005. Billy Wease of Noblesville, Ind., won the opening night. Stewart, who hails from Columbus, Ind., won his first Rumble in Ft. Wayne event in 2001, borrowing the Munchkin from then-owner Mike Fedorcak. Stewart purchased the Munchkin from Fedorack following the event and has since had it completely restored to its original state.
Stewart first competed in the Rumble event in 1999, leading several laps in Joe Gander’s Wild Goose entry before clipping a marker tire and flipping upside down. The event is one that Stewart looks forward to each December.
“I really enjoy competing up in Ft. Wayne and having a chance to pull the Munchkin out of storage,” said Stewart. “I have so much fun running that car at that venue and hope I can be as successful this December as we have been in past years.”
A complete racing program will be held each day. All Rumble Series Midget races will begin after 7 p.m. EST, following qualifications at 4 p.m. Preliminary events for the go-karts, quarter midgets and 600 cc winged modified midgets will begin at 1:30 p.m. both days.
The pit gate at the southeast corner of the Expo Center opens at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, and 8 a.m. on Saturday. Spectator gates open at 12 p.m. both days.
Reserved seats — the middle two sections of the front straight — must be purchased in advanced. They are $22.50 for adults for a single day and $41.00 for two-day. Kids age 12 and under are $10 for a one-day and $16 for a two-day.
General admission tickets can be purchased at the door both days. They are $19 for a single day ticket and $35 for a two-day ticket. Kids 12 and under are admitted for $10 each day or a two-day ticket can be purchased for$16. Pit passes are $30 each day or a two-day pass is $55.00. Pit passes can only be purchased in person on race weekend. Kids are allowed in the pits.
